Grand Rapids Dirt Dawgs

Apparel & Product Design . Print . Email Marketing. Social Media Management

Dirt Dawgs is a 501c3 mountain bike organization dedicated to teaching kids trail stewardship and healthy living through mountain biking. Each summer kids take to the trails and learn the fundamentals of mountain biking weekly with a team of coaches. The program ends with the Dawg Days of Summer race.

I work with the Dirt Dawgs each year as a contracted employee. For the 2024 season, a set of kids and coach mountain bike jerseys were designed as well as additional apparel and water bottles. Since the program is for kids as young as 2 years old, it is important that the jersey design be eye catching so they can easily be spotted in the woods. Additionally, the team wanted to incorporate the Dirt Dawgs logo in several easily read positions on the jersey.

Custom Water Bottle

Of course the Dawgs just had to have a matching water bottle to stay hydrated out on the trails!

Additional Merch

Stationary

Each package was shipped with an insert with both a thank you and a call for donations. The Dirt Dawgs is a nonprofit organization, thus it was important to find different ways to get the call for donations out to the community.

Social Media

When I started with the Grand Rapids Dirt Dawgs, the social media presence was almost non-existent. I worked with the team to give the Instagram a much needed refresh. I created cohesive, kid-friendly graphics that helped not only spread awareness about upcoming events to the team but also grow the public knowledge of the program.

Email Marketing

Frequent email communication happens between coaches, parents and Dirt Dawg staff with crutical information about practice, updates and upcoming events. Prior to the 2024 season, many parents were skipping over information or not reading emails all together. I worked to create easy to read, engaging email templates to combat this problem. Of course, it helped to include lots of cute photos of their kids too!
